What is Occupational Health ?

“Occupational Health is the promotion and maintenance of the highest degree of
physical, mental and social well-being of workers in all occupations by preventing
departures from health, controlling risks and the adaptation of work to people,
and people to their jobs.”

- The ILO (International Labour Organization) and WHO (World Health Organization)

In the early days, OH was more about onsite workplace clinics treating injuries. Its focus

has shifted, as healthcare has as a whole, to preventing illness and injury. It covers

everything from strategies to ensure safety in the workplace, to pre-employment

screening, wellness programs and statistical analysis ensuring the effectiveness of any

OH activity.

Helping employees maintain good health through OH management ensures their ability

to work. Itʼs good for them and its good for business.
